Products I Have Bought Because of Pinterest

Hi, my name is Karen, and I am a shopaholic.

Pinterest is great! I absolutely love the recipe and craft ideas that I find on the site.  But Pinterest is the devil on my left shoulder saying "Oooh pretty! Buy that! and that! THAT TOO!"

If you are anything like me you have started quite the collection of budget busting items. Here are a few of mine that I can't help but LOVE:

Pintastic! Marshmallow Frosting

I swear that I will quit with the “Pin-Puns” soon. But really, I am so glad that I pinned this recipe!  As you can see, I originally pinned this recipe 27 weeks ago.  See those fluffy, fluffy peaks of whipped goodness?  That’s why.

Tonight, after my roommate Jess and I devoured our dinner, we discussed making cookies.  After searching Pinterest, and FoodGawker being left uninspired we went with the delicious standby of chocolate chip cookies.  It is then that I remembered this pin and knew that we had to make cookie sandwiches.

The website that this pin linked to, Pixels and Paperie  made creating this icing simple.  I have copied the recipe and directions below:

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 Cup ordinary sugar (white or brown)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  1. Place all ingredients except the vanilla essence into a bowl which you can place over a pot of simmering water. {You could use a double boiler here instead}
  2. Whisk the egg white mixture constantly over simmering water until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is hot to the touch. {It takes around 5 minutes}.
  3. Pour the mixture into a bigger bowl and beat with an electric mixer for 3 minutes. {Add the vanilla while beating}. After 3 minutes, the mixture will be lovely and fluffy.
The results:
Marshmallow Frosting
Look! Fluffy!

Delicious.

Hello Internet!

I’ll be honest with you.  I need a hobby.

What better way to keep myself occupied than writing about my trials and tribulations with a site that I use daily?  No, I’m not talking about Facebook, I’m talking about Pinterest.  I spend many a second (Ok…minute....alright, alright...hour) on the website made for women and men that count themselves as crafty, artsy, or in the simplest form, able to follow direction.

Can I promise that this blog will purely be about Pinterest pins?
No.

What I am saying is, I do not want to exclude other blogs that I might stumble upon that offer great ideas to try.

Finally, I realize that there are blogs of this type out there, but I like to give people my opinion.  So I’ve created an outlet to do that. Every so often, I will allow guests to give their opinions as well.

Here’s to pinning and posting!
